What is Bikes del Pueblo?
We are a bicycle collective that focuses on bicycle maintenance, provides access to tools and bicycle parts, and empowers marginalized and under-supported communities. We are not a bike shop, but we will guide you with fixing your bike.
100% Volunteer-run
We exist because of a passionate group of people who believe in our mission and vision. There are a number of volunteer opportunities that are not just mechanically-inclined.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity
The cycling industry is not as inclusive and accessible as we would like it to be. Bicycles are just objects. We believe in creating a safe space for people who are under-supported.
Non-hierarchical
There are no managers or bosses. We are all in this together. We practice consensus decision-making to encourage and consider our volunteers' input and ideas.
Non-profit 501(c)(3)
As a not-for-profit organization, we continue to operate because of generous donations–bicycles, parts, and money–from the BdP community.
Our Mission and Vision
Bikes del Pueblo aims to promote and educate bicycle maintenance and safety, centering marginalized and under-supported communities.
Empowering communities since 2007
Founded in a City Heights kitchen in 2007, Bikes del Pueblo (BdP) started supporting the community through the City Heights Farmers Market in 2009. In 2016, BdP found its current residence, where they continue to empower communities through inclusive and accessible bicycle education.
